I’m Eri Bastos, an engineering and infrastructure leader with more than 25 years of experience in software, operations, and reliability.

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked across small and large organizations, including roles at IBM, Google and Guidewire, helping teams build more reliable systems, improve operational maturity, and scale without unnecessary complexity. My background spans SRE, cloud and infrastructure operations, incident response, engineering leadership, and the practical side of making systems and teams work well under real-world pressure.

Many organizations accumulate complexity that they no longer need. I’m interested in finding the parts that matter, improving them, and helping teams build habits that hold up over time. Good operations is not about looking sophisticated. It’s about being dependable when things get messy.

 

 

Background

I started my career in infrastructure and Linux systems administration, and over time moved into broader engineering leadership and reliability work.

Along the way, I’ve worked with production systems at meaningful scale, led teams, handled incidents, improved processes, and learned the usual lesson more than once: the best solution is often the one that removes complexity instead of adding more of it.
